OVERVIEW
Wind turbines account for more than 6% of the total world’s electricity as of 2020. The surface quality blades play a significant role in ensuring seamless motion. To inspect the inner surface of the wind turbine blades, an automated mobile inspection system was developed with the help of a moving cart since the object is large.
CLIENT’S PROBLEM
A time-consuming manual inspection process, as the blades are approx. 60 meters long. It takes a total of 90 mins to inspect both halves (top and bottom). The defects observed are air bubbles, delamination, cutting cracks, dents, step wrinkles, holes, etc.
