One upcoming area of automation is that of Robotic Automation. Most of you would have seen a KUKA robot or an ABB robot in action at a trade show or you might already have implemented this yourself. By introducing Machine Vision we can make the robot more flexible by not have the part always be in the same position. The other use of vision with robot is part presentation. When we require the robot to orient a part in a specific way to the camera for quality inspection.
