Pharmaceutical Label Inspection

A readable label may still be wrong for the product or batch. A useful inspection distinguishes legibility, content and label placement.

Reference approach

Capture the printed area, read required text and codes, then compare them with the active packaging recipe. Store mismatches for review and connect the decision to the line controls.

What a pilot should establish

  • Include wrong but readable labels, missing characters, glare and normal print variation.
  • Agree the pass, fail and uncertain outcomes before testing. Record incorrect accepts and incorrect rejects separately using an independent sample set.

Character reading by itself does not establish regulatory compliance; acceptance rules and system validation must be defined by the manufacturer.

Outputs and line integration

Define the result required by the next process step, the time available to return it and the action for an uncertain result. Where records are needed, keep the image and decision tied to the inspected item or handling event.

Share label artwork, variable fields and packaging recipes. We can define the imaging approach, integration points and a sample-based validation plan.
