Code Reading on Palletized Cartons

Several visible cartons may carry codes, while occlusion, wrapping and reflections prevent other codes from being read.

Code Reading on Palletized Cartons

Reference approach

Code Reading on Palletized Cartons application illustration
Application illustration from existing Qualitas collateral; not evidence of a named customer deployment.

Capture the accessible pallet faces, locate and decode visible symbols, remove repeated observations and reconcile them with the expected carton list.

What a pilot should establish

  • Test film glare, rotated cartons, missing codes, duplicate IDs and cartons outside the visible face.
  • Agree the pass, fail and uncertain outcomes before testing. Record incorrect accepts and incorrect rejects separately using an independent sample set.

Report coverage and no-reads explicitly. A successful read on the front face does not prove the identity of hidden cartons.

Outputs and line integration

Define the result required by the next process step, the time available to return it and the action for an uncertain result. Where records are needed, keep the image and decision tied to the inspected item or handling event.

Share pallet layouts, code sizes and expected carton records. We can define the imaging approach, integration points and a sample-based validation plan.
