Engine Component OCR and Traceability

Cast, stamped or printed engine markings can be hard to read against rough or reflective surfaces.

Reference approach

Application illustration from existing Qualitas collateral; not evidence of a named customer deployment.

Choose lighting for the marking process, locate the text region and read the characters. Validate permitted formats and transfer confirmed IDs to the production record.

What a pilot should establish

  • Include faint marks, oil, casting variation and similar-looking characters such as O/0 or I/1.
  • Agree the pass, fail and uncertain outcomes before testing. Record incorrect accepts and incorrect rejects separately using an independent sample set.

Keep unreadable and format-invalid results distinct; do not substitute a guessed identifier in a traceability record.

Outputs and line integration

Define the result required by the next process step, the time available to return it and the action for an uncertain result. Where records are needed, keep the image and decision tied to the inspected item or handling event.

Share marking samples, identifier formats and record-system interface. We can define the imaging approach, integration points and a sample-based validation plan.
