Automotive Part Classification and Inventory Tracking

Similar parts can be mixed during handling. Recognizing a part and maintaining an inventory record are separate tasks.

Automotive Part Classification and Inventory Tracking

Reference approach

Automotive Part Classification and Inventory Tracking application illustration
Application illustration from existing Qualitas collateral; not evidence of a named customer deployment.

Capture identifiable part features, classify the visible item and attach the result to a handling event. Integrate confirmed movements with the inventory system.

What a pilot should establish

  • Test near-identical variants, rotated parts and repeated frames of the same movement.
  • Agree the pass, fail and uncertain outcomes before testing. Record incorrect accepts and incorrect rejects separately using an independent sample set.

Do not increment inventory for every video frame. Define a reliable entry or exit event and a path for uncertain classifications.

Outputs and line integration

Define the result required by the next process step, the time available to return it and the action for an uncertain result. Where records are needed, keep the image and decision tied to the inspected item or handling event.

Technical reference

Share variant samples, movement rules and inventory interface. We can define the imaging approach, integration points and a sample-based validation plan.
