Why Qualitas

Build real industrial imaging systems with a team that connects optics, image acquisition, application engineering and AI-powered inspection. Take engineering decisions from the bench to a working system, with clear ownership and measurable results.

What you will do

  • Translate inspection needs into field of view, resolution, working distance, depth of field and image-quality requirements.
  • Select cameras, sensors, lenses, LED lighting, diffusers and polarization; evaluate multi-camera layouts and compact optical paths.
  • Model illumination, reflections and stray light using optical simulation where useful, then validate predictions on the bench.
  • Build experiments to control glare, shadows and ambient-light variation across different surfaces and product sizes.
  • Document optical performance, tolerances, calibration, component choices and test results for repeatable production.

What you bring

  • Demonstrated hands-on delivery of optical or imaging systems, with evidence of physical prototypes and measured results.
  • Strong fundamentals in geometric optics, image formation, reflection and refraction, illumination, sensor sampling, depth of field and image-quality tradeoffs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot reflective surfaces, non-uniform lighting, distortion and focus constraints.
  • Ability to reason from first principles, design practical experiments and validate optical decisions with measured results; specific simulation-tool experience is not required.
  • Ability to collaborate across optics, mechanical design, electronics and software and explain engineering decisions clearly.

Useful additional experience (optional)

  • Familiarity with ray tracing or optical/illumination simulation tools such as Zemax OpticStudio, LightTools, TracePro or equivalent, to explore optical paths, illumination, reflections and stray light. These are examples, not prerequisites; strong fundamentals and an ability to learn new tools matter more than experience with any particular package.
  • Experience with mirrors, folded optical paths or multi-view imaging arrangements, including practical understanding of alignment, coverage, image quality and calibration tradeoffs.
  • Industrial machine vision, optomechanical packaging, multi-camera calibration or design for manufacturing.
  • Experience with pulsed LED lighting, light-exposure evaluation, lens testing or image-quality measurement.

Your initial focus

Develop a feasible optical architecture, validate the critical imaging risks with bench tests, and contribute a compact working prototype with a documented performance baseline.
