Discovery & Detailed Requirement Analysis

What exactly needs to be solved?

What we do

We learn what you need to inspect, how your line runs, what equipment you already have, and where the business case lies. Together we identify the product variants, defects, constraints, and unanswered questions that will shape the solution.

What you receive

  • A budgetary proposal and solution concept explaining how the proposed technology would solve your inspection problem.
  • A review of existing technologies and off-the-shelf solutions. If a proven product meets your needs, we recommend that route rather than unnecessary custom development.
  • A detailed requirements discussion with our subject matter expert and your team, including a site visit where needed.
  • An initial proof of concept (POC): sample image capture and checks of promising solution approaches, with specialist vendors where needed, such as imaging partners.

What we need from you

  • Your business objectives and a completed Requirement Analysis Questionnaire.
  • Sample images that clearly show the features or defects to inspect, including acceptable and unacceptable examples.
  • Videos of the line when automation or material handling is relevant.
  • Your target investment range.
  • Representative physical samples when feasibility checks require them.

Solution Design

What should we build, and will it make sense?

What we do

We develop a practical system concept for your line. We assess camera and lighting options, part handling, integration needs, scope boundaries, and the likely investment required to build it.

What you receive

  • A bill of materials, aligned with your preferred component brands and specifications where applicable.
  • A detailed solution design, including the system layout and 3D drawings.
  • A site study by our subject matter expert where needed to confirm space, installation conditions, material handling, and integration requirements.
  • Cycle-time validation against your required production throughput.
  • A detailed POC to evaluate inspection accuracy and cycle time using representative samples.
  • Image acquisition simulation where useful to validate camera coverage and capture timing.
  • A design pack documenting scope, exclusions, key risks, and the implementation estimate.

What we need from you

  • Representative good and defective samples covering the agreed product variants.
  • Line layouts, cycle-time targets, interface details, and preferred component specifications.
  • Access to the site and your production, quality, and engineering teams where a site study is needed.
  • Agreement on the design and measurable acceptance criteria before the build begins.

Your review checkpoint

You review the design and POC results to confirm that the required features can be captured at the agreed cycle time. Feasibility is resolved here, before you invest in production hardware. You can approve the design, change direction, or stop before the build.

MILESTONE 03Paid

Image Acquisition

Clear production images of the features that matter.

What we can see is what we can inspect. We prove the imaging approach in Milestone 02. Here, we deliver that capability on your production line: clear, consistent images of the features that matter, ready for inspection software and AI training.

What we do

We install and commission the image acquisition system proven in the design stage, delivering clear images of the agreed inspection features on your line at the agreed production speed.

What you receive

  • A production-ready image acquisition system installed on your line, engineered to capture the required features with the clarity and detail needed at your agreed cycle time and production speed.
  • Installation, commissioning, and training for your team on operating the capture system.
  • A catalogued image set of good parts, defects, and production variation, with a visibility review showing which inspection features can be seen clearly.
  • A joint review of ambiguous defects. Production images can reveal details that manual inspection misses; we agree what is acceptable and what is a defect before model training.
  • Documented image-quality limitations and agreed defect definitions to guide the next milestone.

What we need from you

  • Line access, an agreed installation window, and the utilities and interfaces specified in the design.
  • Representative production runs, product variants, and known defect samples.
  • Your quality team’s participation in image review and approval of defect definitions and acceptance limits.
  • Operators and maintenance staff for training and handover.

Your review checkpoint

Your team verifies the installed system against the agreed image-quality and cycle-time criteria, then approves the image catalogue and defect definitions for inspection software and AI training. You receive a working production imaging capability, with the required features clearly visible.

MILESTONE 04Paid

Image Processing & Automation

How does the system make and act on decisions?

What we do

We develop the inspection logic using the agreed images, connect it to the operator or control workflow, and test it against the criteria agreed for your project.

What you receive

  • Inspection software configured for the agreed checks, including an AI model trained on the approved images and defect definitions where AI is appropriate.
  • An integrated inspection workflow with operator results and the agreed PLC, reject mechanism, or other production-system interfaces.
  • Validation against agreed acceptance criteria using representative production data, with recorded detection accuracy, false accepts, false rejects, and cycle times.
  • Commissioning and production trials, with remaining limitations and any required refinements documented.
  • Operator and maintenance training, operating documentation, and a handover covering the agreed support arrangements.

What we need from you

  • Approved image labels, defect definitions, and acceptance limits from the image acquisition milestone.
  • Representative production samples and access to the line for integration and validation trials.
  • Your quality and automation teams to review results and confirm system interfaces.
  • Operators for training and your team’s sign-off against the agreed acceptance criteria.
